Messi is flying back to Paris

Argentina’s national team captain, Leo Messi, flew from Rosario to France on Monday to join PSG and resume competition in Ligue 1.

According to sources, Messi got on a private plane with his family to go to Paris and continue training after a well-deserved rest for winning the 2022 World Cup last December 18th.

PSG head coach, Christophe Galtier, had announced that Messi would return between January 2nd and 3rd, after celebrating Christmas and New Year with his family in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe province, Argentina.

He’s expected to be in the starting lineup on January 11th against Angers in Ligue1’s 18th matchday. Messi’s days of relaxation and praise for winning the World Cup are behind him, but not forgotten, and now he’ll refocus on winning with his club.

Before he left, his neighbors at the Kentucky Country Club, the gated community where he stayed in Argentina, gifted him a book with signatures and messages of support for what he accomplished in Qatar, according to a statement by Juan Félix Rossetti, the property manager, to EFE.

Although he received the gift privately, Messi’s relatives took pictures of the occasion inside the home and posted two photos on social media. One of the messages reads: “Thank you for your effort, and dedication, and for representing our nation around the world. Thank you for your talent and discipline, for wearing Argentina’s colors so proudly, and for making us feel proud. Congratulations Leo! To you and the whole team!”
